Traditional counter game

I got 4 younger siblings but the 2 younger ones were not so familiar with the traditional games we played before. My younger brother plays computer games. I miss those times.

It was so much fun playing hide and seek, chinese garter, jackstone, patintero, chato i could shout til my throat gets malat! Kids those days were much more active so they were more likely immune to common ailments. Aside from that, playing those games build character. It teaches teamwork and sportsmanship. I wish schools would really introduce traditional pinoy games back to your youngsters today. Its part of our culture that we should make an effort to preserve.

I think youths of today live in a cybergame era. Its sad to see many youngsters waste their money and play computer games nowadays. I have seen kids as young as 7 years old play computer games in a cafe. If they only knew how exciting and how beneficial the games is to their health.

Plus we get to bond with other strangers and finally be friends with them. I don't know if this is a traditional filipino game but just want to add langit, lupa, impyerno?

We usually do it in stairs when we play it back then. I like playing all those fun traditional games you have mentioned and specially the memories along with it.

It might not be that original, but it was also a part of our childhood. I think kids playing online games are not only wasting money, but also their health. After reading your discussion, it made me miss my childhood years.

I miss these games and it's kind of sad cause kids today are not really familiar with these games. Being an 80's kid is really good. I love playing langit-lupa also, but most of the times I go to impiyerno! THe joys and laughter back then can never be replaced by any material or any high tech gadgets that kids nowadays prefer to have..

Right, all I see now are kids who are more often doing things that they actually shouldn't be doing for their young age.. My kids still play those games, and we actually encouraged them to. Their school also encourage kids to play the traditional games, during the "Buwan ng Wika" celebration they had a mini olympics of piko, tumbang preso, agawan panyo, patintero, tsakad and sipa.

It was fun! Glad to hear that! We used to play patintero and taguan and ice-water a lot back then I am not so sure about the kids nowadays, I think you can never take that away from them, but the early introduction to PC games and the like is undeniably a huge factor why some would rather stay inside and not play these games like we did before..
