Hello all, I have a server with windows sp4 with terminal services. Sunday, September 16, AM. Hi, Thanks for posting here. Tuesday, September 18, AM. Might ask them over here. Sunday, September 16, PM. Monday, September 17, AM. Thank you! Two good reads on TS licensing, and licensing the software that runs over TS. Homerboy Lifer. Mar 1, 29, 3, We run a Win2k Server TS at our office Office2k3 is intalled on it and everyone can access it just fine. I don't know Thanks for the links.

Now my head is really swimming We have exactly 25 PCs and one server in our company. The server does not have any copies of Office installed. All Microsoft Office products on our PCs are bought and paid for. I think we are at the point where we need to start buying licenses instead of buying oem copies of Microsoft Office whenever we buy a new computer.

If we start buying licenses for our Microsoft Office products, what happens to our oem software that is already installed? We have obviously paid a great deal of money for this software. We would like to intall Microsoft Office on the server and allow all 25 PCs to have access to it using Terminal Services. It does not make sense to license Office Professional for 25 PCs when only 2 of the 25 require it.

How can we run all three of these on the same server so that users can access what they need via Terminal Services? On another note, I understand that the Office suites come in two varieties: oem copies and copies purchased through Volume Licensing.

Only copies purchased through Volume Licensing will permit access and use from a network server. Is it true that when you purchase software through Volume Licensing that you only purchase the right to use that software for a predetermined length of time 1 or 2 years and then you have to pay again to continue to use the software once that time is up? Opposed to buying the oem version of the software with a PC and having the right to use the software forever or until the PC it came installed on dies?

Are the licenses that much cheaper for this to make sense? I'm sure this is starting to ramble now MrChad Lifer. Aug 22, 13, 2 Originally posted by: ddeder Thanks for the links. Dec 12, 3, 0 0. The second link at its most basic says that the only Office products granted granted "network rights" for installing Office is retail and Volume versions. You must obtain a license to the Software for each additional device that accesses and uses the Software installed on the network storage device.

Office is licensed by device and is non-concurrent licensing. Feedback will be sent to Microsoft: By pressing the submit button, your feedback will be used to improve Microsoft products and services. Privacy policy. Office ProPlus is being renamed to Microsoft Apps for enterprise.

For more information about this change, read this blog post. If the Terminal Services Remote Desktop Services role is already enabled on the server, OEM keys are not valid, and you must use the special Terminal Services product key to install Office on the server as retail.

To install an additional product key to enable Terminal Services, use one of the following methods.
