Those who read french well will find this a multi-layered "story" about perception itself. The author died of tuberculosis soon after all copies of the book were removed from bookstores by parties unknown. The few surviving examples were guarded by an circle of esotericists in and around Paris where she was a wealthy patron of the Dadaists and Surrealists.
